The Project Behind the Auction
Our Third Year students have been working on a student-led project that has grown into something quite special.
The project began in English lessons. Each student undertook careful research about DEBRA and wrote a persuasive letter to a public figure they admire requesting a 'money can't buy' item for a silent auction in aid of DEBRA. They researched their recipients, drafted and redrafted, then handwrote and posted their letters in March.
The replies have been extraordinary, with auction lots that now include a signed Liverpool FC shirt from Graeme Souness, a signed Charlie Mackesy print, a signed Billie Eilish photograph, a signed Jacqueline Wilson book and postcard, a signed Taskmaster set from the comedian Alex Horne, and signed postcards from Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr and Margot Robbie. The Office of HRH The Princess of Wales was among those who wrote back in support of the cause and project, albeit without making a donation.
